I am very interested in the arguements for and against the use of wind turbines as a source of securing renewable energy.
I am, probably obviously, very much in favor of wind energy and if my property was big enough I would gladly be leasing my land for wind turbines.
I am started doing some research, I hate not knowing the arguments for and against something. I want to be able to argue with facts, not hearsay or anecdotal myths.
I will be writing more about this in the future. I have a close personal source on the front line of this battle.
This week I am kind of consumed by the Democratic Convention and the start of my semester.
But to this point the two major arguments I have been able to find against wind turbies are:
They are loud.
and
They kill a lot of birds.
If that is all I have to argue against, it's not going to be much of a fight.

1) Now that wind turbines are "up facing" meaning they turn to face the wind, and not "down facing" (meaning the wind blows them from behind) the old "whoooshing" sound is no longer there. You can walk right up to them and carry on a conversation without raising your voice and at a set back distance of at least 1200 ft, you can barely hear them.
2) Buildings, cars, and house cats kill more birds and bats a year than wind turbines.

Wasn't it sometime last year that a vote went up to have Hamlin investigate the possiblity of putting some up there? I think it was a motion just to get some more information on the turbines and the people turned it down. Ihe biggest argument I remember hearing about was that people didn't want to look at them. I think they're cool and the farmers could've actually made some money. Stupid Hamlin.
