I am asking my readers (all two of you) to answer my challege. I want to know one thing, one little thing, that is better in this country then it was in 2000.
The way I see it, the only positive thing to come out of the last eight years has been that they were such a complete, utter, total disaster that this country that is supposedly "Center-Right" just elected a 45 year-old liberal, black man with the name Barack Obama President.
Seriously, One Thing?
Education, foreign policy, the econonomy, the enviorment, health care, domestic policy, international relations. You name it, and it is worse now then it was then.
Keep in mind that almost 10,000 Americans lost their lives IN THIS COUNTRY during the man's Presidency. Mind Blowing.

i'm going to reach and reach far and hard but i think that there is a true sense of optimism, willingness, and eagerness to be a part of something new. now granted, there would be no new if the old was not so horrifically and violently stinky but there has been no riper atmosphere in our modern history for true social justice and anti racist, anti homophobic, and anti sexist activism. govenor bush, though the doofusly unaware catalyst, has nurtured and fostered this movement. and that my brother, is positive change.
It is hard to put into words the change I felt November 4th 2008. I had become numb to the intelectual violence that was so often displayed the soon to depart administration.
Watching W's last press conference the other day I was struck by just how completely unaware of his own culpability that he truly is.
The Tide has in fact turned.
