Avi yesterday.

God she looks so big.

I was going through some old pics and videos on my external hard drive (long story about what I did to break my laptop), and I can't believe how much she has grown in a year.

I always told myself that I wouldn't get misty about how fast she is growing, instead, just enjoy each phase.

But when I look back at the older pics and videos, wow.

I was at : 167 South Ave, Hilton, NY 14468,

Avi

This is a first try for this. Video taken right from my phone and uploaded straight to The Head.

Wish me luck here.

I was at : Rochester, NY 14616,

Adding...

Firstly, it worked, which is very cool. The weird thing is that when I attempted to upload videos from my phone directly to YouTube previously, my phone said that the video was too big. But when I went through the Blogger App on my phone and posted this, there was no problem, and it loaded the video first through YouTube, then to my Blog, all on its own. I didn't have to do a thing. I still don't know how to upload videos to YouTube from the phone, but it doesn't matter.

Secondly, this is a really cool feature and one that I will be using a lot more in the future.

Labeling, Done

So I am done. I have labeled all 616 (and counting) posts that I have made in the last three years.

Clearly, I have talked about politics way too much. I blame the election.

Going forward, I think it is safe to say that politics will have a much more equal distribution with sports, family, movies, music, books, technology, my phone etc, etc...

I am excited about the changes to The Head and how I can incorporate what I do on a day to day basis with this space.

As I am typing this, ESPN Sports Center is on in the background and I am forced to listen to Mark McGuire tell, and retell what he did and did not do, and why he is the victim, and how hard this has all been for him.

Pardon me Mark, if I don't shed any tears for you. Your neck looks like that of a rooster.

You were a marginal player with a ton of "natural" power. Prove to me that you were not on something when you were hitting bombs in college...

Your career was defined by what outside substances did for your ability to hit for power and keep your breaking down body on the field.

Nothing you, or Tony La Russa says is going to get me to feel even the slightest bit of sympathy for you.

I hate what this has all done to my sport. Thank god no one in the NFL or College Football takes anything illegal...

Labeling

I am in the (loooong) process of labeling all of my old posts so that they can be filtered through with ease.

First off, it is taking forever. I have to click on each old post and decide which category I would put it in. There are over 600 old posts to look through.

Secondly, I am finding it interesting to see which topics I have spent the most time typing about for the last three years. I am going to vote for "Politics", the '08 Election is going to put it over the top.

Busy day.

Blog Updates

So, if you are here you will notice a few small (and some large) changes to The Head.

Out is the orange layout. I loved it in the fall, but it felt like it needed a fresh coat of paint.

If you look to your immediate left and scroll down a bit, you will see I added a "Followers" widget, which shows who is following the blog. If you come here often, or even every once in a while and have a google account (I don't know if you even have to have a google account, I think Yahoo works as well) set up a profile and Follow so I know who is out there. I think it will help with the community feel of the blog.

The whole purpose of this space, at its inception and as it continues today, is to give me a place to empty my head of all the thoughts that are floating in there, freeing me up to be a bit more sane on a day to day basis (I picture some like a digital version of Dumbledore and his Pensive)

And I continue to be pleased with how it has worked for the space it has created in my head.

It is definately more fun when we get some back and forth going. I love hearing what people feel about what I am writing. In an effort to please the masses...I added a One Click option at the bottom of each post so I know what people are thinking.

I also took Danielle's advice and added Labels to each post. Now on the Left Sidebar you will see a list of labels that will help with sorting through what ever the hell I am typing about. I am in the process of going through my posts and labeling all 604 of them. (Check out D's blog, she is mucho excited)

Student Teaching starts in a few weeks, and as always, the unknown is causing slight to major anxiety. I don't know how the new schedule will effect (you know, I never know whether to type 'effect' or 'affect', I just guess) on my ability to spill my brain's contents here.

Welcome Back, Terry

This is literally the beginning of the end of the world.

Do these scientist dickheads ever watch movies.

Welcome back to The Head, Ter.

I promise to get back at this a bit more, busy ass summer.

New Features On The Head

So, I have already caught a ton of flack for this, but I don't care cause I happen to think it is cool.

To your immediate right (I know I said left before) you will see a widget from amazon.com. I will update this list from time to time with books/movies/toys and whatever else I am into at the time. I am hoping this feature is useful, I think it is cool.

You will also notice a new google search bar which I am hoping will be useful if something I write about sparks some curiosity and you need to search for it. There will also be advertisements that will change if you are interested in looking for something that is advertised.

I am hoping all of this new stuff is useful and not too much. What I don't want is for The Head to start to look like a billboard.

Let me know what you think.

Advertising?

So, "The Head" has taken a turn in a weird direction. We here at my head have gone all capitalist and added advertisements(you will notice them to your left).

This is an interesting little shift for us. If you click on them I make money. I am going to try to keep them relavent to what I talk about here, so that you are clicking on things that you would find interesting if say, you found what I care about interesting.

I am going to see what I can do about advertising book and what not that I am interested in. I thought this was a different little direction to take.

Let me know what you (both of you) think about this.

My Head

Things have slowed down considerably here so let me catch you up on what's going on.

Politically I am fairly tuned out. Sorry. I cared about nothing but the election for a long time, a real long time, and now that it is over I am taking a mental break.

January 20th is a long time from now. I am expecting Obama's first weeks/months is office to be exciting.

But as the economic crisis worsen, I realize that what he is going to be able to focus on may have already been determined by W.

Although crisis provides opportunity for Obama to prove his greatness, it is unfair that he is shackeled by the failures of the Bush administration.

I don't care about is cabinet appointments. Call it nieve, but I just don't have the mental engery to stress about each of his choices.

If he chooses Hillary as his S of S, I think that it is a bad choice, not because Hill is not a qualified, capable candidate, but for the same reason that she was not a good VP choice... Bill.

Bill accepted money, and lots of it, from lots of foreign places, money buys influence, influence over the person who is going to be helping to shape American Foreign policy for the next 8 years. Bad Combination, sorry.

---------------------------------------------------

After the mentally exhausting campaign, I have fallen back on sports to keep my busy brain occupied without too much effort.

The Buccaneers are the 2nd, or 3rd best team in the NFC, and had they not shit the bed against the Cowboys, they would be clearly the 2nd best after the Giants.

They finish the season they play the Chargers and Raiders, two games they SHOULD win. That takes them to at least 10 wins, and the next three weeks they play all three of their division teams, Saints, Falcons, and Panthers, if they are able to manage 2/3 they will be in very, very good position to win the division and have a first round bye.

Penn State smoked Michigan State, which on one hand was awesome, and on hand I am really happy, it was an awesome win. On the other hand, I am still trying to figure out how in the hell we lost to Iowa. Had they finished the season undefeated, with Texas Tech losing, Penn State would have all but locked up a spot in the championship game.

Which brings me to this worn out arguement. This season proves again that College Football needs a playoff. The top 8 teams in the country all deserve a shot at this thing, as none of them have an unblemished record (save Alabama, who will lose to Florida in the SEC championship game).

The two arguments that I will not give credit to are that

1.) The regular season is the most exciting in sports.... FALSE. The last two weeks have been brutally boring. Each sporting only one good game. Now had 10-20 teams been fighting for a shot into the playoff, there would have been a ton more exciting games.

2.) The regular season acts as a playoff..... FALSE. Because it all comes down to when you lose. Which is bull. Is Texas better because they beat Oklahoma? or is Oklahoma better because they beat Texas Tech, who beat Texas?

I have a novel idea, how about we throw out all of the rediculous speculation, guessing, and analysis, and let the effing teams decide it on the field, you win you go on, you lose, you are done.

PLAYOFF.

It looks like the Brawlers are going to make the Playoffs.

We hit a rough patch in the middle of the season, but thanks to a trade of McNabb for Phil Rivers, The Brawlers finally have that QB they have been missing.

We are sitting in a nice spot going into next week where we are NOT in a must win situation.

We can lose next week and still pull out the win.

So, that's what has been going on in my head.

If You Tried to Play the Video

On the story two posts down and it didn't work, it is because Youtube pulled it. Let me give you a quick synopsis. A former Clinton aid referred to the people of Indiana as "Shit" and "White N>>>>s", it was later stated that the video was edited and he did not say "White N>>>>s", but he did say the people of Indiana are Shit.

Comments are Welcome

I was thinking earlier today that I write these things, and I represent exactly 50% of the comments on this site.

Now, I know someone is reading because I added the nifty counter on the bottom of the page, and I do not represent all 230-ish views on this page.

I write mostly about baseball and politics as these are two of the many things that occupy my brain. I do most of my more personal, or parenting writing at www.myspace.com/terrygilmore1

I seriously enjoy comments though, as it gives me a chance first of all to see who the hell is reading this, and second of all to see what people think and discuss and what not.

There are many things I think I know, and there are many things I know I know. One of the things I know I know is that I do not know everything, and I seriously love to be challenged, or disagreed with.

What I am trying to say is, I am going to continue to write this, even if no one is reading, but I think someone is reading so let me know what you think.
