Labeling, Done

So I am done. I have labeled all 616 (and counting) posts that I have made in the last three years.

Clearly, I have talked about politics way too much. I blame the election.

Going forward, I think it is safe to say that politics will have a much more equal distribution with sports, family, movies, music, books, technology, my phone etc, etc...

I am excited about the changes to The Head and how I can incorporate what I do on a day to day basis with this space.

As I am typing this, ESPN Sports Center is on in the background and I am forced to listen to Mark McGuire tell, and retell what he did and did not do, and why he is the victim, and how hard this has all been for him.

Pardon me Mark, if I don't shed any tears for you. Your neck looks like that of a rooster.

You were a marginal player with a ton of "natural" power. Prove to me that you were not on something when you were hitting bombs in college...

Your career was defined by what outside substances did for your ability to hit for power and keep your breaking down body on the field.

Nothing you, or Tony La Russa says is going to get me to feel even the slightest bit of sympathy for you.

I hate what this has all done to my sport. Thank god no one in the NFL or College Football takes anything illegal...

As a Bay Area native, but a (non-practicing) Dodger fan, I would like to hear something from all the SJ Merc's sportswriters.

See, during the 1988 World Series, the Dodgers were huge underdogs to the Oakland A's. During the broadcasts of games from Chavez Ravine, you could hear an occasional fan yell "ROIDS!" when Jose Canseco was up to bat.

Now, I'll never claim Socal fans to be classy, but our local writers couldn't get over this. Even after LA won in five games, the talk was more about how ridiculous those allegations were. (BTW, some A's fan *still* owes me $5.)

It took more than a decade, but Canseco finally came clean, and now his "Bash Brother" does the same.

Where, Bay Area media, is the apology?

I refuse to believe anyone who says they didn't know what was going on during that time. I was too young to really know, but by '98, I knew both Sosa and McGuire were on something other than Andro.

Performance enhancers are way more prevalent than anyone wants to admit.

Keep in mind I played four years of Varsity Football and Brockport. I have first hand knowledge of the widespread use of PEDs in Division III sports, I was personally tested following our playoff victory at Rowan (which took over two hours and my parents were unable to even see me after driving all the way to New Jersey for the game)...Now think about the fact that there is really nothing on the line for D-III athletes, none of us were going on to careers in professional sports.

Think about what is at stake for a running back going to USC, or Texas, or a guy in the Major Leagues. You stay healthy and productive, or your don't get paid.

I have no answers for these questions. Just observations.
