The Palin Bubble Has Burst

The Sarah Palin bubble has burst. Conservative commentators, not far-right loons like Hannity and O'Rielly have begun to realize who and what she really is.

The McCain campaign did not select Sarah Palin the real person. They picked Sarah Palin the Narrative.

She was a compelling story, not a person. The woman who cleaned up Alaska, fought ear marks, represented real conservative values, balanced running a state with raising a family, including a child with a disability.

The problem for the Republicans is that she is none of those things.

She didn't clean up Alaskan Politics, she was part of the problem. She ran that state by appointing friends and giving legs up to those who she is connected to.

She didn't fight ear marks, she hired a Lobbist tied to Jack Abramoff to go to Washington and get more earmarks for her state.

She doesn't represent real conservative values, she claims her daughter has Chosen to keep her child, and that she would like privacy now. Real conservatives don't believe there was any choice, and if she were poor and white, or black, she would have no privacy because if they had their way, she would not be able to chose.

She hasn't balanced being a mother and being Governor, she has been an absentee parent who has let others raise her children while she fufills her political asperations. Who taught Bristol how to make good choices about her future. Who is providing the care that the infant with Downs Syndrome needs, cause it sure as hell isn't her while she is running around the country lying about every aspect of her record. And it sure as hell isn't her (oil executive) husband.

She cut in half, the state budget for the Special Olympics, and is running as an advocate for parents and children with disabilities.

The Right wing is scrambling to cling to their Narrative, because the REAL Sarah Palin is nothing like the one we were intoduced to at the RNC.

The Palin Bubble has Burst.

Conservative elitists may be cooling on Palin, but who cares? Her biggest backers are Libertarians. It's the Libertarians who will carry her into victory! If the boring-ass Conservatives want to sit on the sidelines, so be it.

That may or may not be the case. But "Boring Ass Conservatives" are the water carriers for the Republican party. There is not guarentee that McCalin win the 40% of American's the consider themselves "Republican". It's the Economy stupid, and as long as the conversation in the country centers around that, McCain loses.

I am Libertarian leaning, I believe that in general the Government should stay out of peoples private lives. I do however believe that there is a place for Government. I do not believe that privitization is the answer for everything.

Had the Social Security fund be privatized as McCain would have it, where would we be now, with the Markets the way they are.

I am not a Libertarian when it comes to things like Government control of National lands. If Libertarians had their way, The Cape Cod National Sea Shore would be a series of hotels and casinos, not the beautifully preserved national treasure that we have today (thank you JFK, another Democrat).
